Project Engineer

Full-time | Up to £36,000 per annum

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team reporting to the Technical Services Manager and based in our East Sussex office. You will be responsible for delivering or assisting with the delivery of an array of infrastructure and digital transformation projects, in the cloud, on-premises and hybrid. Communication is key, so you will have the ability to confidently consult with clients, internal and external stakeholders to review, analyse, design and deploy projects. You will be meticulous in everything you do and create and maintain accurate documentation throughout using our software platforms. We believe in One Team, in fact it’s one of our core values, so you’ll need to be a genuine team player – there’s no place for egos at Astec. You will assist our helpdesk team with escalated support when needed and be a mentor for junior colleagues. You’ll work closely with our client account managers to help guide and advise on the best solutions for our clients. 

Experience Required

We are a Microsoft Gold Partner across a number of competencies and a leading Managed Service Provider. We expect you to be from a similar MSP background and you’ll need to have previous experience of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 product solutions. This includes EM-S, Intune, IaaS RDS. You will have successfully managed Microsoft / Office 365 migrations and implementations.

Exposure to Hyper-V server clustering and configuring high availability multi-node SAN solutions would be advantageous.

We would also expect you to be experienced with –

Windows 10, Server 2008-2019, Hyper-V, Microsoft 365 with Azure IaaS & PaaS, Remote Desktop Services, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, TCP/IP & Routing, Switching, Firewall, VPNs, Mac OSX, VoIP, Android, DELL, IP telecoms/SIP, WAP, Cat5e/Fibre. We would like industry qualifications, ideally Microsoft MCSA in a Server discipline or equivalent. AZ-104 Microsoft Azure Administrator and MS-100 Microsoft 365 Identity and Services qualifications would be an advantage.

You will need a full UK driving license.

The role…

As part of the role you’ll be expected to:

  • Assist with escalated helpdesk tickets via telephone and remote support services
  • Mentor and provide additional technical resources to the helpdesk team
  • Work closely with client account managers to advice on appropriate technical solutions
  • Advise and assist in the design & delivery of infrastructure solutions
  • Maintain accurate records of project time expenditure against delivery targets
  • Create appropriate documentation for project hand over to both client and helpdesk team
